Springtime on the Farm

Little Brown House Herbary

Culinary, Medicinal and Spiritual Herbs

Hello, and welcome to the home of the Little Brown House Herbary! We believe you'll be delighted when you buy our herbs, and here are just a few reasons why:

We begin by using heirloom seeds, which are hand-selected and individually tucked into rich, loamy soil--our own blend of home-grown compost, peat and pearlite.  Seeds are then   nourished with pure Oregon rainwater and water from the cold, deep well that has been used  for five generations on our farm.  When the sun shines and the clean country air grows warm, our seeds spring to life.  Over the next few months, we constantly monitor growing conditions and care for our herbs in a way that will help to preserve our Earth for generations to come--and so we can bring beautiful, healthy plants to you!

Gardening Hint of the Month

Got aphids?  Beneficial insects are our first line of defense, but for persistent problems, try this:  In a blender, whir the peel of one large orange with three cups of water until reasonably smooth.  Strain (I use a metal strainer lined with a clean cotton rag), mix with 1 tablespoon of baby shampoo, and funnel resulting mixture into a spray bottle.  Spray leaves/undersides of leaves until wet.
